This free trail in Wakefield is based on the popular Julia Donaldson book Room on the Broom and is a belter of a walk!
Room on the Broom is a brilliant story and one that we read all the time so little man was well on board with this walk! He would tell me the story as we were going around and try and trip me up with telling me the wrong bit to see if I noticed!
The walk follows the path round the lake in an anti-clockwise direction. The route is pram friendly too which is a bonus. There are sculptures to find and animal footprints to follow. You can buy an explorers pack from the Discovery Centre at the start if you so wish too.
There is a cafe, toilets and a playground at the Discovery Centre and car parking was free when we went. You do need to get their early though as it fills up quick.
The area around the lake is really picturesque with plenty of spots to stop for a snack.
A fabulous short walk for little legs!
If you enjoyed this walk then why not try the others in the area; Gnome Roam at Newmillerdam or Yorkshire Sculpture Park.
