Nestled away in the Yorkshire countryside near Skipton, Jo, the owner of Beckside Spa Retreat has curated a luxurious retreat where all your worries just evaporate the moment you arrive.
The only thing that comes close is WOW!
Beckside Spa Retreat is a unique exclusive space where you are waited on throughout your stay, but left to relax, are pampered with treatments, served delicious food, kept hydrated with drinks and are surrounded by nature including alpacas!
There are so many aspects to this retreat which we loved so I’ll take them all in turn.
Jo is the mastermind behind the vision for Beckside Retreat and she has seen this dream through to reality, constructing a beautiful bespoke cabin in such tranquil surroundings.
She was a beautician, mental health nurse and is now an aesthetic and holistic practitioner so has honed all those skills in to delivering this retreat. She is also the warmest, friendliest, genuinely nicest person that you will ever meet. From her first message I was struck by this kindness which was confirmed with a welcoming hug on arrival, where we instantly felt like friends being greeted into the space.
Beckside Spa Retreat is an incredibly special place and that has been designed for your mind, body and soul. Absolutley everything has been thought about from the ‘stag’ theme, to the hand picked little touches, the music playing and the smells that instantly calm your senses. As my friend Bex who came with me says ‘it was pure bliss’.
Packages available
There are a range of signature packages that Jo has created that all give you that holistic relaxation. We opted for the Whispering Angel package which included;

💕 Choice of a 30 minute treatment – Foot & Leg Revival, Quartz Stone Guasha Facial or Swedish Back, Neck and Shoulder Massage

💕 Unlimited non alcoholic drinks, nibbles and flavoured water.
💕 Provided with dressing gown, towel, blanket, flip flops to use during the day.
Facilities
At Beckside Spa Retreat you have exclusive use of all the spa facilities during your stay. This includes the jacuzzi spa pool, sauna and relaxation areas.
Inside you have a dining area and comfy sofas in front of the fire. Outside you will find comfy sun loungers, dining area and seats to enjoy your coffee overlooking the alpaca fields.
Yes you read that right, alpacas! Your visit also includes access to these beautiful gentle creatures. They run down the hill to greet you but are really after the carrot snack! It was such a memorable experience with them. They build such a connection with you that it is impossible not to love them back. That animal bond is magic.
Treatments
Jo delivers all the treatments herself within the purpose built treatment room. This gorgeous smelling room is a pure haven allowing you to relax as soon as you walk in . You are provided with a beauty robe and hairband and Jo goes through the Dermalogica products that she will be using. From there on in you are transported away to another world. 30 minutes of being pampered is just not long enough! I could have stayed there all day!
The facial was gentle incorporating cleanse, tone and exfoliation, followed by a mask and moisturising cream. She used a variety of textures on the face including guasha quartz stones which felt amazing on my skin. Whilst the mask was working away she gave a shoulder and arm massage. I came out glowing.
Lunch
Included in each package is your lunch (or tea if you opt for the twilight packages). The options were an antipasti sharing platter or woodfired pizzas. We went for the pizzas which were cooked by Jo herself in the outdoor pizza oven. We also were served up salad bowls, the most delicious wine (Whispering Angel) and some little cupcakes to finish. There was plenty leftover so it did us for tea as well when we got home!
Throughout the day Emily hosted us exceptionally well, providing us with new drinks as soon as we had finished. Freshly made coffees, cold lime infused water, a welcome smoothie plus soft drinks. Nibbles were also served up. We certainly did not go hungry.
Our verdict
Beckside Spa Retreat is without a doubt THE spa that you must visit as soon as possible!
The time, energy and love that has gone into curating this serene, tranquil and calm space by Jo is amazing. A full nervous system reset. She is the epitome of a spa host.
If you want the chance to feel soothed, relaxed and tap into another level emotional support then I cannot recomement Beckside Spa Retreat enough. The wooden lodge is absolutley stunning, the facilities are top with no expense spared and the surroundings of rolling hills and the alpacas is divine.
